About Greenfield

General questions about our firm, location, and how we work with clients.

Are you a Registered Tax Agent?

Yes — Greenfield Tax & Advisory is a Registered Tax Agent with the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB registration 26094752). Our people include members of CPA Australia and Chartered Accountants ANZ, so you work with professionals who are held to high technical and ethical standards. CPA Australia and Chartered Accountants ANZ are two of the leading accounting bodies in Australia and New Zealand. Together they represent tens of thousands of members, and both organisations require their members to act in the public interest and maintain strong professional and ethical standards. Earning and keeping CPA or Chartered Accountant status means completing demanding study, practical experience and ongoing continuing professional development each year. That keeps our team across changes in tax law, accounting standards and ATO practice. When you deal with a CPA or Chartered Accountant, you get advice backed by recognised qualifications, current knowledge and a genuine commitment to looking after you properly.

How much do you charge for consultations?

Your first consultation is completely free. It's a no-obligation conversation where we learn about your situation, explain how we can help, and give you a clear idea of next steps — no invoice, no pressure.

Where are you located?

Our office is at 66-72 Rickard Road, Bankstown NSW 2200. Sydney tax accountants based in Bankstown, we work with clients across Sydney's south-west, greater Sydney including the CBD, Parramatta and Liverpool, as well as Australia-wide via phone, video and secure portal.

Do you work with clients outside Sydney?

Yes. Around half our clients are outside NSW. Everything from onboarding to signature is handled digitally, and we hold quarterly video meetings for advisory clients.

How do I switch accountants to Greenfield?

It takes about 15 minutes of your time. We send an ethical-clearance letter to your current accountant, collect your prior returns and workpapers, and handle the ATO transfer — usually within a week.

What are your fees?

Fixed fees, quoted upfront. Individual returns start from around $150; monthly business packages (bookkeeping + BAS + tax) typically start around $300/month. No hourly billing surprises.

How quickly do you reply?

Within one business day, guaranteed. You'll deal with the same Registered Accountant and bookkeeper year over year — no ticket queues.

Service questions

Common questions about specific services we offer.

Individual Tax Returns

How much does an individual tax return cost in Australia?

Standard salary-and-wages returns start from around $150. Returns with rental properties, share/crypto CGT or sole trader income are quoted upfront before we start — no surprise invoices.

Can you lodge late or prior-year tax returns?

Yes. We regularly bring clients up to date on multiple years of outstanding returns and negotiate any ATO penalties or payment plans on your behalf.

Do I need to come into the office in Bankstown?

No — we work with clients Australia-wide over secure portal, email and video. In-person meetings are available at our Bankstown office if you prefer.

When will I get my refund?

Most electronic ATO refunds land in 5–10 business days after we lodge. We lodge as a Registered Tax Agent, which also extends most lodgement due dates.

Business Tax, BAS & GST

Do you handle quarterly BAS lodgement?

Yes. As a Registered Tax Agent and BAS agent we prepare and lodge quarterly (and monthly) BAS and IAS for companies, trusts, partnerships and sole traders across Australia.

When is company tax due in Australia?

Most SME company returns are due 15 May the following year when lodged through a tax agent. We manage the ATO deadlines for you and confirm payment amounts in advance.

Can you clean up prior-year business tax and BAS?

Yes. We routinely bring companies and trusts back into compliance — reconciling GST, fixing Division 7A loans, and lodging outstanding returns.

Bookkeeping

Which accounting software do you support?

Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks Online. We can also migrate you between platforms if your current setup isn't serving the business.

How much does monthly bookkeeping cost?

Packages typically start around $200/month for a small business and scale with transaction volume and payroll headcount. Fixed monthly fee — no hourly billing.

Do you fix messy books from a previous bookkeeper?

Yes. Catch-up and clean-up work is one of our most common engagements. We'll scope the work, quote it upfront and get you back to a clean set of monthly financials.

Payroll, STP & Super

Do you lodge Single Touch Payroll (STP Phase 2)?

Yes. We lodge STP Phase 2 to the ATO every pay run and manage end-of-year finalisation for employees.

Can you pay employee super via SuperStream?

Yes. We calculate super guarantee, process SuperStream payments to employee funds every quarter, and keep records for ATO super-guarantee compliance.

Do you handle payroll tax across multiple states?

Yes — we lodge payroll tax in NSW, VIC, QLD, WA, SA, TAS, ACT and NT for employers operating in more than one state.

Business Advisory & Virtual CFO

What does a Virtual CFO actually do?

We build your budget and 13-week cashflow, set the KPIs that matter for your business model, run monthly numbers meetings, and prepare finance/investor packages. Effectively a part-time CFO without the six-figure salary.

How is this different from bookkeeping?

Bookkeeping tells you what happened. Advisory tells you what to do about it — pricing, hiring, capex, tax structuring and cashflow decisions before you make them.

Property Finance Structuring

Do you help set up SMSF property loans?

Yes — we structure limited-recourse borrowing arrangements (LRBA) for SMSF trustees buying residential or commercial property, and coordinate with your broker and bare trust provider.

Can you review a finance deal before I sign?

Yes. We'll model the after-tax cashflow, interest deductibility and ownership structure before you commit — often the difference between a good deal and an expensive one.

Do you introduce clients to mortgage brokers?

Yes. We work closely with a network of trusted mortgage and finance brokers who specialise in residential, commercial and SMSF lending. We'll put you in touch with the right broker for your situation and stay involved to make sure the finance structure fits your tax and ownership goals.

SMSF & Self-Managed Super

How much super do I need to start an SMSF?

As a general guide $250k+ combined member balances makes an SMSF cost-effective, but the right answer depends on your investment strategy. We'll model it before you set one up.

Do you arrange the independent SMSF audit?

Yes. Every SMSF must be audited annually by an independent ASIC-registered auditor — we coordinate the audit and prepare all working papers.

Can I buy property inside my SMSF?

Yes, under a limited-recourse borrowing arrangement, with strict rules around related parties and personal use. We advise on whether it fits your fund's strategy before you commit.

ATO Audit & Representation

I've received an ATO audit letter — what should I do?

Don't respond yet. Forward it to us. As Registered Tax Agents we can deal with the ATO directly, request extensions, and respond in writing on your behalf.

Can you negotiate an ATO payment plan?

Yes. We regularly negotiate instalment arrangements and remission of interest and penalties for clients with ATO debt.

Can penalties be reduced?

Potentially, yes. Where there's a reasonable explanation or voluntary disclosure, penalties can be remitted in part or in full — we'll prepare the application.

Estate Planning & Trusts

Do I need a testamentary trust in my will?

For estates with property, business interests or vulnerable beneficiaries, testamentary trusts can provide significant tax and asset-protection benefits. We'll advise whether it's right for your situation.

Can you work with my solicitor?

Yes — we handle the tax, structuring and accounting side and coordinate with your solicitor for the legal drafting.
